.: Programs and Assistance :.
Our primary focus is to provide advocacy and bridge services to help people with special needs that are not able to be served by other organizations. ACPC has developed several programs to provide unique services for those with disabilities and physical challenges.
~ ADVOCACY LITERATURE AND SERVICES ~
Pamphlets and information outlining the services of ACPC. Providing information and services by phone or face-to-face to assist individuals with specific requests they may need (i.e. where to apply for public assistance, communicating with a utility company, interpreting billing or forms, possibly a business did not have enough/appropriate handicap access, etc.)
~ PUBLIC AWARENESS/OUTREACH: ~
Gain community support of the need to improve daily access needs by providing newsletters, presentations, and other miscellaneous communications. We will encourage individuals to advocate and help identify business locations and services that could use improvement to help those with disabilities and physical challenges (i.e. Better access to handicapped parking, placement of shopping carts, chairs to sit, shorter walking distances, etc.)
~ HANDICAP PARKING ACCESS: ~
There is a significant need for this program here in New Mexico as much of the handicap parking is often far from the main entry doors making it difficult to access for those with disabilities. On behalf of individuals, this program identifies and tries to improve the locations and the number of handicap parking spaces per location and type of business, by partnering with the business owner and/or offering to provide the service to assist those with disabilities, both in wheelchairs and those that walk.
~ BRIDGING SERVICES: ~
Provide information, services, and items to bridge services of other agencies and organizations. Partnering and communicating with agencies and businesses on specific needs to benefit individuals that are not otherwise provided by insurance or any other sources. Seek community and business resources to assist individuals.
~ TANGIBLE ITEMS: ~
Provide and/or seek community funds and resources for goods to improve daily living of those that are physically challenged, either on a temporary basis or permanent basis. These are goods that are not otherwise covered by any of their benefits or other resources (ie. Handicap ramp, wig during illness, pulse oxygen monitor, cane, etc.)
~ REQUESTING AND OBTAINING ASSISTANCE: ~
Can be done anonymously for public requests or confidentially for individual needs. To contact ACPC, CLICK HERE.
